The Pacific Research Organization picked out a 1000 square feet area to record coral bleaching activity. Hence the name, Project 1000. The goal of Project 1000 is to let the world know about the problem of coral bleaching. PRO also wanted to show how coral bleaching is changing from year to year. To see if coral bleaching is increasing or decreasing. In that 1000 square feet area, the PRO took pictures and recorded how many corals, by species, were healthy or bleached.
